Impulse Embedded now offers Aaeon Technology’s BOXER-8640AI, its latest rugged embedded PC and the first to be powered by flagship NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin SoM, which delivers a six-fold increase in AI performance over the latest generation Jetson AGX Xavier.
With four PoE ports for connecting IP cameras, it focuses on Vision AI applications including public safety, smart factories, and comes with additional I/O to enable integration with a wide variety of peripherals and of sensors.
Although the primary purpose of the device is computer vision and video analytics, it offers a rich selection of I/Os to support device control and monitoring tasks. This flexible new PC features 4 Gigabit PoE ports and 2 superspeed+ 10Gbps USB-C ports to connect high-bandwidth peripherals while supporting legacy devices with a configurable RS-232/422/485 serial interface via a standard DB9 port. Additionally, mobile and robotic applications will accommodate the additional DB9 CANbus port and externally accessible expansion options for other GPIOs.
The Jetson Orin module comes standard with a sizable 64GB eMMC onboard storage, but for those who need more space, the company has provided the device with additional options including a MicroSD card slot, an M.2 2280 M-key interface and a 2.5″ SATA SSD/HDD bay, making this SoM a great option for those in low connectivity areas.
The GPU is built around the current Ampere architecture of the NVIDIA RTX 3000 series of consumer graphics cards, which offers a noticeable performance-per-watt upgrade over the Volta architecture. The amp GPU offers 1792 CUDA cores and 56 Tensor cores, resulting in 200TOPS AI computing performance. The SoM also provides an upgraded octa-core ARM Cortex-A78AE processor and 32GB of onboard 256-bit LPDDR5 memory that offers a 68GB/s bandwidth boost over the LPDDR4 found in Jetson AGX Xavier.
The PC supports the NVIDIA JetPack 5.0 SDK. This edition of the JetPack SDK integrates the latest Jetson Linux driver package, Linux operating system, CUDA-X accelerated libraries and APIs for deep learning, computer vision, accelerated computing and multimedia development . Additionally, this SDK also offers sample code, documentation, and developer tools for the host and SDK, while supporting higher-level SDKs such as DeepStream for live video analytics. continuous, Isaac for robotics and Riva for conversational AI.
