When it comes to business successes, it doesn’t get any better than Amazon.
What started as a book selling site has grown into one of the largest retail companies on the planet offering virtually anything you can think of, from toiletries to luxury perfumes.
Rare is the internet user who hasn’t found himself idling through Amazon’s digital aisles at one point or another, stringing together one incredible offer after another.
But Black Friday madness aside, the discounts and deals don’t get any better than during the retailer’s annual sale for its Prime members known as Amazon Prime Day.
When is Amazon Prime Day 2022?
The online giant still keeps that card close to its chest, but now we can reveal that this year’s sales bonanza will take place on July 12 and 13. The event will start at 12:01 a.m. and end at 11:59 p.m. on July 13, giving you plenty of time to pack all the things on your wishlist.
Do you need a Prime account to get the offers?
In short, yes, you must be signed up for Amazon Prime membership in order to access the savings. It’s worth it: in addition to next-day delivery on thousands of products, there are exclusive member-only deals and services on Amazon Video, Books, Music, Image storage, gaming and more.
It also doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. You can pay a rolling monthly fee of £7.99 or an annual fee of £79, which makes it a bit more cost-effective, especially if you have one account for your whole household. Students get an even better deal of almost 50% at £3.99 per month.
Both subscriptions come with a no-obligation free trial so you can assess whether Prime membership is right for you. Along with all the benefits we’ve mentioned above, Prime members can also enjoy free Deliveroo Plus and discounts on National Express tickets, Elemis skincare, Philips electronics and more.
What types of Prime Day deals are available?
There are two main types. First, the Lightning Deals: quick and dazzling offers on products in often extremely limited quantities. We’ve seen everything from air fryers to Fire tablets in this category in the past. You have to be quick to get them, because once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Daily Deals are a slightly slower, more considered affair that lasts longer, giving you more time to make a decision. There is still a time limit on the offer but less impulse buying than Lightning Deals.
What deals on Amazon devices were there last year?
Amazon’s internal technical branch is constantly evolving. In addition to its coveted Amazon Echo smart speaker (which comes in the Dot and Show spin-offs), prices have been slashed on Kindles as well as Fire tablets for adults and kids.
In home entertainment, Fire Sticks have been reduced by up to 50%, with prices also dropping on the Fire TV Cube, which combines a streaming device and speaker in one.
Home security is another area where Amazon is focusing its technology efforts, and sales of the Ring Video Doorbell were among the biggest at the event. All signs point to a repeat of demand this year as well.
What offers can we expect this year?
Amazon devices you can usually rely on to lower the price include Echo speakers, Fire sticks, and tablets, though the company likes to throw some generic deals into the mix to really treat its Prime members.
This year, Prime members will see offers starting as early as July 8 with up to 60% savings on select Amazon devices, including Echo Dot (3rd and 4th Gen), Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen), Fire TV Cube, Blink Cameras, Ring Home Security, and Fire 7 Kids Pro Tablet.
We’ll be watching them closely when Prime Day 2022 kicks off on July 12, so bookmark this page and come back when the time is right.
Are there any live offers now?
Yes! Although the biggest savings are for prime time, Amazon has built its reputation on offering great deals, and you can get amazing savings now too.
There are quite a few products in Amazon’s lineup, so here’s a look at all the own-brand tech the global retailer has under its all-important belt, along with what they do and what discounts are currently on offer:
Amazon’s wireless headphones, the Buds deliver crisp, dynamic sound thanks to Bose’s built-in active noise-cancelling technology. The sealed in-ear design cancels out all other noise, so you can listen to your favorite tunes the way they were meant to be heard. Connect to Amazon Music to access millions of songs or link it with your podcast provider to listen to shows on the go.
