Apple is back in force! At the highly anticipated “Far Out” event, Apple presented its latest innovation – iPhone 14 series to the world. This time, Apple launched four devices, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max. As is the norm, the Cupertino-based tech giant has stunned the world with its latest technology.

The powerful A16 Bionic chipset, 48MP main sensor and Dynamic Island instead of the conventional notch on iPhone 14 Pro models caught the attention of the world. If it’s only plausible if you’re tempted to grab the latest iPhone, do you really need it?

iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 13

Design is the most tangible aspect of any smartphone. As for the design, the standard iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models feature somewhat similar notches, with slimy bezels around the screen. The smartphones have a similar finish on the back, with the Apple logo being the centerpiece. However, both smartphones are available in different color options.

Another striking feature is the display, while the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 come with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. On the contrary, the iPhone 14 Plus comes with a 6.7 inch display. The devices come with up to 1200 nits of peak brightness. All three devices sport a flat-edge aluminum frame and come with a Ceramic Shield display. The devices have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 13 are supported by the A15 Bionic SoC. Apple claimed that the standard iPhone 14 models offer better performance as they are equipped with a 5-core GPU, while the iPhone 13 comes with a 4-core GPU. All three devices are available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage configurations.

On the camera front, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus come with improved cameras in its dual camera module. The new setup features a 12MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree field of view. Additionally, the next-gen iPhones also have a 12MP TrueDepth camera on the screen, while the iPhone 13 has dual 12MP cameras on the back and a 12MP selfie camera. The iPhone 14 camera modules, however, come with slight tweaks such as Action mode for improved videos and Photonic Engine for better low-light photography.

The iPhone 14 comes with up to 20 hours of video playback and the iPhone 14 Plus comes with 26 hours, while the iPhone 13 offers 19 hours. The tech giant claimed that the iPhone 14 Plus offers its best battery performance.

The iPhone 14 is available at Rs 79,900 (128 GB), Rs 89,900 (256 GB) and Rs 1,09,900 (512 GB). Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 is available at Rs 69,900 (128GB), Rs 79,900 (256GB) and Rs 99,900 (512GB).

iPhone 14 Pro vs. iPhone 13 Pro

The iPhone 14 Pro is the successor to the iPhone 13 Pro which was launched in 2021. The new iPhone 14 Pro, although featuring a similar design, is packed with radical features. According to Apple, the iPhone 14 Pro models are its best smartphones yet. Although the design is similar, the dynamic island in place of the conventional notch on the iPhone 14 Pro makes it stand out. In fact, the iPhone 14 Pro is the first device to feature the new pill-shaped cutout that includes animations for notifications, widgets, and other background activities.

The iPhone 14 Pro comes with a 6.1-inch OLED Super Retina XDR display with 2556 x 1179 resolution with 2000 nits peak brightness and support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision, and always-on display . On the other hand, the iPhone 13 has a similar screen but with a resolution of 2532 x 1170 pixels and a maximum brightness of 1200 nits, there is support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision, but no always-on display.

Performance-wise, the iPhone 13 Pro comes with the A15 Bionic chipset while the iPhone 14 Pro comes with the latest A16 Bionic chipset. The iPhone 14 Pro comes with a 48 MP main camera with Sensor-Shift OIS, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree FoV, and a 12 MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom and OIS. Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 Pro comes with a 12MP main camera with Sensor-Shift OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera with 120-degree FoV, and a 12MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom and OIS.

Apart from its outstanding specs, the iPhone 14 Pro models also come with satellite connectivity collision detection features.
