UK-based industrial designer and visualizer Alex D’Souza crafts with flair ‘Drag’ – a one-of-a-kind portable SSD with an integrated USB-C cable, perfectly visible under a sliding aluminum cover.
Innovatively created for Design Workout as part of their industrial design challenge – “This portable SSD concept was simply inspired by the inconvenient cable management that hangs down the side of existing SSDs.
Its cover can be slid up, hence the name of the product, revealing the integrated flexible cable underneath » said D’Souza.

An extruded aluminum cover slides effortlessly over its internal SSD enclosure, uncovering an integrated flexible, hassle-free USB-C cable that only pops out when needed.
The cover of this eclectic device not only offers a clean minimalist aesthetic with gently rounded corners that are flush with the interior, but also cleverly protects the SSD from bumps and knocks.
“Unlike other SSDs, its cable is always there when you need it, protected from damage, and doesn’t hang awkwardly when not in use” D’Souza adds.
Plus, it’s long enough to be used in most portable situations, or even just attached to a regular desktop computer.
